Winnipeg unveils new cadet bike patrol

Winnipeg's new cadet bike patrol spun its wheels for the cameras Friday.

The Winnipeg Police Service said the bike patrol, part of the Auxiliary Force Cadets, is comprised of 16 cadets who have undergone specialized training and will be mobile throughout the city, including on bike paths, riverbanks and parks.

According to a Winnipeg police news release, theinitiative is part of the Cadets'mandateto build positive relationships in the community, deliver a visible presence, and tofree-up general patrol officers to focus on other duties.
