Woman, 48, hospitalized after shooting in West Broadway: Winnipeg police

A woman was taken to hospital in unstable condition after being shot on Furby Street Thursday night, but has since been upgraded to stable condition, Winnipeg police say.

A woman was taken to hospital in unstable condition after being shot on Furby Street Thursday night, Winnipeg police say.

Officers were called to the 100 block ofFurby Street, south of Broadway, around 6:50 p.m. on Jan. 11 with a report that a woman had been shot, a police release Friday said. Theyfound a 48-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to her upper body.

Police provided emergency first aid to the victim, who was taken to hospital in unstable condition. Her condition was later upgraded to stable, police said.

The person whoshot the woman fled on foot before officersarrived, according to the release. Police did not provide any description of the suspect.

The major crimes unit is investigating and no arrests have been made, police say.
