Bell to lay off 380 people in Toronto, Montreal

Bell Media has announced another round of job cuts, this time in Toronto and Montreal.

Bell Media has announced another round of job cuts,this time in Toronto and Montreal.

A total of270 positions will be cut inToronto and another 110 in Montreal, a source confirmed toRadio-Canada.

In Toronto, Unifor local 723M President Kelly Dobbs saidthe union has been toldthat 220 of the layoffs will come from production and editorialoperations, 45 will be in sales and marketing and five will come fromadministration.

Bell has vast media holdings in Toronto including CTV, the CP24 cablenews channel and Business News Network.

In Montreal, Bell Media holdings include CTV Montreal,the French-language sports channel RDS and the English-language radio station CJAD.

Stephane Giroux, a longtime reporter at CTV Montreal,confirmedon Twitter there would be "110 job cuts in Montreal alone," calling it "Black Friday" at Bell Media.
