Bernard 'Rambo' Gauthier granted discharge on intimidation conviction

Bernard Gauthier, the union organizer described as 'powerful as God' by a Charbonneau Commission witness, has been given a conditional discharge after being found guilty of intimidation.

Bernard Gauthier, the FTQ-Construction union representative described as "powerful as God"by a Charbonneau Commission witness, has been given a conditional discharge.

Gauthier known as "Rambo"was found guilty of one count of intimidation bySept-les judge Michel Parentlast December.

Gauthier was found to have used threats to force contractorFrdricBoucherto stop working during a construction strike in 2013.

Today's absolutedischarge allows Gauthier to continue to work for the union on Quebec's North Shore.

The sentence stems from a joint recommendation from the crown and defence lawyers.
