Forecast

Today:A few flurries ending this morning then clearing. Wind west 40 km/h gusting to 70 diminishing to 20 gusting to 40 this afternoon. Temperature falling to minus 17 this afternoon.

Tonight:Clear. Wind west 20 km/h gusting to 40 becoming light late this evening. Low minus 20.

Tomorrow:Increasing cloudiness. 60 percent chance of flurries in the afternoon and evening. High minus 10.


Power outages

Hydro-Qubec reports that it has restored power to almost all of its customers who were in the dark on Sunday. About 8,500 customers in the province are still without electricity, down from Sunday's high of about 155,000.


Cancellations

Most schools are open today, exceptJewish People's and Peretz Schools and Beacon Hill Elementary in Beaconsfield.

These schools have already-scheduledped days:

  • New Frontiers schools
  • The Study
  • Lower Canadian College

Travel and transit alerts

STM: Notice to wheelchair users: due to current weather conditions, extending the ramp at accessible bus stops may be impossible

AMT: Train service is normal.

Montreal roads/highways: Roads continue to be slippery. No major collisions or road accidents on Quebec highways have been reported. Proceed with caution.

Montreal-Trudeau International Airport: Some arrivals and departures have been cancelled or delayed.


Snow clearing updates

  • On Sunday, the City of Montreal deployed 1,000 pieces of equipment and 1,000 city workers to plow streets and sidewalks and lay down abrasives. The effort continues across the island.
