COVID-19 in Quebec: What you need to know on Wednesday

More cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed at a day camp in Boucherville.

28 cases of COVID-19 confirmed at South Shore day camp

  • Quebec reported 176 new cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths Wednesday. Since the start of the pandemic, there have been59,073confirmedcases and 5,670people have died.

South Shore public health authorities say 28 children and staff who were at a day camp have tested positive for COVID-19.

In a letter sent to parents and people on a mailing list for the camp, the CISSS de la Montrgie-Centresaid itsuspects even more transmissionvia asymptomatic carriers may have happened atCharlot l'Escargot.

Last week, regional health authorities began investigatingafter a counsellor and multiple children who were at the camptested positive for the virus.

All children and employees who were at the day camp between July 13 and July 21 must isolate at home for a minimum of 14 days from the last time they attended the camp.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?

  • Fever.
  • New or worsening cough.
  • Difficulty breathing.
  • Sudden loss of smell without a stuffy nose.

Quebec government reminders for preventing the spread of COVID-19:

  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • It is recommended to wear a mask or face covering, especiallywhen physical distancing is not possible, in an indoor public space and on public transit.
  • Stay at least two metres away from other people as much as possible.
  • Self-isolate for 14 days after returning from a stay outside the country.
