  • Quebec reported 582new cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths Thursday.One death occurring between Sept. 17and Sept. 22 was added to the total. Since the start of the pandemic, there have been69,670confirmedcases and5,810peoplehave died.

The next few weeks will be key in preventing the level of shutdown due to COVID-19 seen last spring, Health Minister Christians Dub said at a news conference Thursday.

He asked Quebecers to avoid all social gatherings, such as weddings and funerals but also dinner with friends and family.

He said that includes cancelling Thanksgiving plans, so that Quebecershave ashot at "a nice Christmas."

  • New or worsening cough.
  • Difficulty breathing.
  • Sudden loss of smell without a stuffy nose.

Quebec government reminders for preventing the spread of COVID-19:

  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • Wear a mask or face coveringwhen physical distancing is not possible. Wearing a mask is mandatory in enclosed public spaces across the province.
  • Stay at least two metres away from other people as much as possible.
  • Self-isolate for 14 days after returning from a stay outside the country.
