COVID-19 in Quebec: What you need to know on Tuesday

Quebec's Laval and Outaouaisregions face new restrictions after being designated "orange" under the province's colour-coded COVID-19 alert system. Here's what you need to know.

  • Quebec reported 489new cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths Tuesday. One other death, occurring between Sept. 15and Sept. 20, wasalso reported. Since the start of the pandemic, there have been68,617confirmedcases and5,805peoplehave died.
  • There are 168peoplein hospital (an increase of 20), including 28in intensive care(a decrease of two).

Quebec's Laval and Outaouaisregions face new restrictions after being designated "orange" under the province's colour-coded COVID-19 alert system.

The Centre-Quebec region will also be moving from green to yellow.

The province recorded 489 new cases today and the number of hospitalizations increased by 20.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?

  • Fever.
  • New or worsening cough.
  • Difficulty breathing.
  • Sudden loss of smell without a stuffy nose.

Quebec government reminders for preventing the spread of COVID-19:

  • Wash your hands frequently.
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • Wear a mask or face coveringwhen physical distancing is not possible. Wearing a mask is mandatory in enclosed public spaces across the province.
  • Stay at least two metres away from other people as much as possible.
  • Self-isolate for 14 days after returning from a stay outside the country.
