The Do Crew answered acall for actionfromChez Doris last Thursday.

The charitable organization is the only women's day shelter serving the Montreal community. Open seven days a week, the house provides meals, respite, clothing,socio-recreationalactivities as well as practical assistancein a secure and accepting environment.

When they asked for help with doing some spring cleaning, the CBC Montreal Do Crew was there.

Our main task was tohelpbring the shine back to the Chez Doriscommunity kitchen. When we arrived on site, we discovered just how much this non-profit shelter provides to the women it serves. It offers itsclients free breakfast and lunch, gives them a safe place to take a shower, take a nap or place a phone call.

As it's tax time, volunteers have helped more than100 women last month alonewith their taxes, as well asassisting them with their financial social aid andhelping them balance their monthly budget all year round.ChezDoris really has an impressive selection of programs to support a woman's mind, body and spirit.

During our time at Chez Doris, the Do Crew managed to organize the pantry, spruceup the clothing donation room and createmore than 150 shower kitsfor the clients that use their facilities all that, and we only skimmed the surface of the reinforcement they need.

Special thanks go out to our Do Crew volunteers: Jordan, Alison, Jennifer, Phoebe, Lyse, Valerie, Pierrette, Jeff, Liz, and Kirsten.

Chez Doris does so much for the women they serve; they can always use volunteers to help them maintain the food and clothing donations they receive. If you are interested donating non-perishable food items or clean clothing, or, you would like to offer your support, please contact them through their Chez Doris website or call 514-937-2341.
