Dr. Barry Breger suspended for dosage violations

Montreal doctor Barry Breger has received a three year suspension after he was found guilty of five violations, including letting patients choose their own dosage.

Montreal doctor Barry Breger has been suspended for letting patients choose their own dosage.

The suspension took effect Feb. 25, 2016, and will last for three years.Bregerhas the right to appeal the decision.

Last spring, the Quebec's College of Physicians found him guilty of treating patients in ways that are "not consistent with scientific findings," including allowing a patient to adjust her own medication.

The judgement stated that his prescriptions were not always in line with the best treatment.

Breger is a private doctor who practices orthomolecular medicine,a formofalternative medicineaimed at maintaining health through nutritional supplementation.

Orthomolecular medicine is not recognized in Canada.

The College of Physicians found him guilty ofall five of the accusations against him.
