Eric Deslauriers, Sret du Qubec officer, charged in teen's death

A 45-year-old Sret du Qubec officer has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the fatal shooting of a teen following a January 2014 police chase in Ste-Adle.

Deslauriers released until his next court appearance on March 10

A 45-year-old Sret du Qubec officer has been charged in connection with thefatal shooting of a teen last year in Ste-Adle,70 km northwest of Montreal.

Police were responding to a call about a stolen vehicle on Jan. 22, 2014.

A car chase ensued and ended near a high school where a 17-year-old male youthwas shot and later died.

TheSretduQubecofficer, EricDeslauriers, is facing charges of manslaughter anddischarging a weapon inappropriately.

Deslauriers was releaseduntil his next court appearance March 10.

Montreal police handled the investigation, as per the province's protocol, since the fatal shooting involved an officer from the SretduQubec.
