Eugenie Bouchard files negligence lawsuit after fall at U.S. Open

Tennis pro Eugenie Bouchard has filed a lawsuitagainst the United States Tennis Association after she slipped andfell in a locker room during the U.S. Open.

In a lawsuit filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Brooklyn,Bouchard claims her fall was caused by a "slippery, foreign anddangerous substance" on the floor.

Bouchard says she suffered a severe head injury, which caused herto withdraw from the tournament. She also dropped out of atournament in China.

Her suit claims the USTA, tennis' national governing body, was negligent. It seeksunspecified damages.

Bouchard says her world ranking has dropped 13 spots since theincident and she believes it is likely to continue to drop.

USTA spokesman Chris Widmaier says the organization does not comment on on-going litigation.
