Alleged victim in MNA sex-assault case meets with Quebec City police

The woman who accused MNA Gerry Sklavounos of sexual assault, Alice Paquet, met with Quebec City police on Tuesday, allowing them to pursue their investigation into the incident.

The woman who accused MNA Gerry Sklavounosof sexual assault, Alice Paquet, met with Quebec City police on Tuesday, allowing them to pursue theirinvestigation into the incident.

The alleged assault happened in 2014 when Paquet met Sklavounoswhile working as a hostess in a Quebec City restaurant.

Paquetfirst went public with the allegation last weekduring a vigilfor Laval University sexual assault victims, but initially didn't name her alleged assailant.

The next day she named Sklavounos, a Liberal MNA for Laurier-Dorion, as the man who allegedly assaulted her.Sklavounoshas not been charged with any crime.

He leftthe Liberal caucus on Oct. 20. Sklavounos was thedeputy house leader underPremierPhilippe Couillard.

Marc Tanguay, the Liberal MNA for LaFontaine, was named Tuesday as the new deputy house leader.

Sklavounos has been absent from the National Assembly since the allegations surfaced.

His now sits as an independent.
