We dont want to lose that feel of the original, we just want to enhance it, says ghostbusters fan Jamie Thompson, who goes by J-mi when producing music. She makes music with her partner Dave Phaneuf, who goes by Midi-D. (Submitted by Jamie Thompson )

A pair of music producers in Sherbrooke have signed on to create music for a new documentary about the making of Ghostbustersand its sequel, called Cleanin' Up the Town: Remembering Ghostbusters.

For superfan Jamie Thompson, the opportunity to make music for a Ghostbusters project is a dream come true.

"They're timeless classics. If I ever have kids, I'm going to force them to watch it that's how good it is."

Thompson and her partner Dave Phaneuf have produced electronic and pop music before, but this is their first crack at scoring a film.

Thompson says she plans to remain fairly loyalto the original sound of the films.

"You're going to say, 'oh yeah, this is totally Ghostbusters-style stuff.'"

They'll begin work on the score when they get a copy of the documentary, but Thompson says she's already been working on a remix of the iconic Ghostbusterstheme song by Ray Parker Jr.

"I can't tell you how much of a stress it was to do this," she says. "I thought to myself, if I'm going to do this theme song, I have to do it right."

'They were always kind of my heroes'

Thompson has been a fan of Ghostbusters since she was a kid.

"Ghostbusters means alot to me. They were always kind of my heroes. Like, if I was scared of something in the dark when I was a kid, I would just think, the Ghostbusters are going to come and save me."

Thompson loves the ghostbusters blend of sci-fi, horror, and comedy: Its such a fun combination! ( Kate McGillivray/CBC)

She now owns a vast collection of Ghostbusters merchandise, including her own Ghostbusters uniformand a homemade, hyper-realistic proton pack (the backpacks worn in the movies that allow the Ghostbusters to weaken and capture ghosts.)

She's found kindred spirits in the British filmmakers behind Cleanin' Up the Town, brother and sister teamClaire and Anthony Bueno.

Thompson heard about the project and reached out, becoming friends with the Buenos online before agreeing to score the film.

The documentary is set to come out during the summer, coinciding with the release of the new Ghostbusters movie starring Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig.
