Guilty verdicts in Operation Diligence case

After nine days of deliberation, the jury in the Operation Diligence case delivered its verdict over the weekend. Five men have been found guilty of different charges, including conspiracy to launder the proceeds of a crime and gangsterism.

Diligence was launched in 2007 and wasrelated to the infiltration of Quebec's masonry industry by a member ofHells Angels biker gang.

Daniel Lafond was found guilty of conspiracy to launder the proceeds of a crime, gangsterism and recycling the proceeds of a crime. He was found not guilty of conspiracy to commitextortion and extortion.

Louis-Pierre Lafortune was found guilty of conspiracy to launder the proceeds of a crime.

Jerry Purdy was found guilty of conspiracy to launder the proceeds of a crime and recycling the proceeds of a crime. He was declared not guilty of conspiracyto commitextortion and extortion.
