Residents in the small town in southern Quebec shared their anger and despair after a man was arrested and an unnamed body was found following the disappearance of 29-year-old Kelsey Watt.

The investigation has been transferred to the SQunit that handles investigations of crimes against a person.

"The more the investigation progresses, the more we are led to believe that she has been the victim of a crime," said Sgt. Audrey-Anne Bilodeau.

Watt was last seen around 12:30 p.m. Saturday on Covey Hill Road in Hemmingford, which is located in southern Quebec minutes away from the U.S. border.

Since Saturday, the SQ have set up a command post and deployed ground search teams, ATVs, divers and sniffer dogs. Hundreds of volunteers also helped in the search.

Danielle Daneaujoined the search effort a day after Watt went missing. She spent Sunday checking her assigned area with a team and said it was well organized, with an SQ helicopter flying overhead.

"There were a lot of volunteers," she said. "It's just a small help on my part, because I was feeling so bad for the family. That's a nightmare for parents."

Roy Catto said he has known the Watt family for four decades. In Hemmingford, everybody knows each other and the town pulled together to help with the search, he said.

"It's real sad. It's hard to believe," he said.
