Truck driver charged after fatal hit-and-run on Gdon-Ouimet Bridge in Laval, Que.

A 43-year-old man has been charged with failure to stop after an accident resultingin death in connection to a fatal hit-and-run on Highway 15 in Laval, Que.

On Thursday around 5:20 a.m, amotoristhad stopped to change a flat tire on thenorthbound shoulder of the highway at the Gdon-Ouimet Bridge.

While outside of his vehicle, the manwas struck by anapproaching truck. Aspokesperson for Urgences-santconfirmed hewas pronounced dead atthe scene.

The Sret du Qubechad been looking for the driver of the truck since Thursday, and say he turned himself in Friday morning. The driver was charged Friday afternoon.

Although the crash happened on the northbound side, traffic wasbacked up for at least 10 kilometres on the southbound side of the highway.
