Oct. 14 is the last day to make sure you're on the right voter list for the Quebec school board elections.

On Nov. 2, school boards across the province will have their fate decided in an election.

Education Minister Yves Bolduc said earlier this month that the government would be looking very closely at how the elections famous for low voter turnouts in previous years pan out.

He said if not many people show up to vote, it could be the affirmation the government needs to get rid of school boards altogether.

Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 10 p.m. is the deadline to register for the upcoming school board election, but making sure you're on the right voters' list has proven difficult for some.

How to vote

Any Quebec resident over the age of 18 can vote, whether they have children or not.

However, according to the province's chief electoral officer, voting in the English school board election may take some extra effort.

"An elector who has no child admitted to the educational services of a Francophone or an Anglophone school board will be registered by default on the electoral list of the Francophone school board," the DGE's website reads.
