4-year-old drowns in Longueuil residential pool

A child has died after being found unresponsive Friday in a residential swimming pool in Longueuil on Montreal's South Shore.

A child has died after being found unresponsive Friday in a residential swimming pool in Longueuil on Montreal's South Shore.

Police say they were called to Vimont Street at around 4:30 p.m. Friday concerning reports of a child gone missing for several hours.

After searching for a few minutes, officers found the four-year-old in a pool in the neighbourhood, according to Service de Police de l'agglomration de Longueuil spokesperson Franois Boucher.

The child was taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Police say there was no criminal element involved, but the investigation is ongoing.
