Loto-Qubec opts for digital draws

Loto-Qubecannounced Tuesdayit will usedigital drawsfor all of its lotteriesstarting Feb. 1.

The draws will be done by a computer that generates random numbers.

However, Canada-wide lotteries such as Lotto 6/49 and Lotto Max will continue to use the traditional system for now.

Loto-Qubecsaidthat the change will allow it to save about $500,000 every year.

The provincial agencyadded thatthe new system will be secure and that it has already been tested and verified independently.
