Man, 22, injured in afternoon shooting near Bell Centre

Police say the victim was injured in the arm but he is expected to recover. He is not co-operating with police.

Montreal police are investigating after a man was shot in downtown Montreal a few minutes after noon, steps away from the Bell Centre.

The 22-year-old man was injured in the armbut he is expected to recover, police say. The man is known to police and is not co-operating with the investigation.

Police received calls about a shooting at 12:10 p.m., close to the intersection of Saint-Antoine and Jean d'Estres streets nearthe luxury Canadienscondominium towers.

Around 5 p.m. police spokespersonRaphal Bergeron said four people hadbeen detainedfor questioning, three women and one man.

Police say the people, agedbetween20 and 25, were seen in an apartment where the suspect was seen earlier in the day. But policehave not yet identified the shooter.

Investigators are looking at video surveillance tapes, and trying to establish alink between the suspect and the victim.
