Montreal doctor suspended for sexual relationships with 3 patients

The complaint was brought to the Quebec College of Physicians by a woman who'd been a 17-year-old dance student when Roger Hobden had sex with her. Hobden was 43 at the time.

A Montreal doctor, RogerHobden,has been suspended from practising medicine for 15 months for having sexual relations with three of hispatients between 1991 and 1999.

In one of the cases, the patient was a 17-year-old girl studying dance at thecolesuprieurededanseduQubec.

Hobden was 43 at the time.

The teenager,whose namewas withheld to protect her privacy, consultedHobdenin the fall of 1996 for knee and back problems. They had sex on at least two occasions in early 1997, and the young womancontinued to see him as her doctor afterwards.

The two crossed paths several timesin the ensuing years, and during one of those encounters, in 2015,Hobden confessed to her that he had had two other sexual relationships with female patients.

The woman made a formal complaint to the college in April 2016.

Hobdenappeared beforethedisciplinary council of the Quebec College of Physicians.

At that hearing, he pleaded guilty to having had sexual relationships with three women, including one that went on for four months in 1991 and 1992 and a second two-month-long affair in 1999.

As well as the 15-month suspension, Hobden wasfined $3,000.
