Construction workers are driving long steel piles into the bedrock at the site of the new McGill University Health Centre superhospital in NDG.

Cement will eventually be poured over the steel piles which will support the new buildings.

The pile driving starts at 7 a.m. and continues all day, with the end date forecast for February.

The noise is an aggravation for people who live and work near the Glen Yards site.

The hospital has set up a noise complaint hotline at 514-934-8317to take calls.

Callers can leave a message at the number.

The first part of the superhospital, a 500-single-patient-room medical facility, is due to open in 2014.

SNC-Lavalin and Innisfree Ltd. are building the superhospital.
