Pedestrian recovering after being struck by car in Montreal, police say

A 45-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured when he was struck by a car on Tuesday night in Montreal's Plateau-Mont-Royal borough.

Montreal police say that, at around 10 p.m., the man crossed the street on a red light at the intersection of St-Denis Street and Mont-Royal Avenue East.

The first car goingthrough the green light managed to missthe pedestrian, but the second car did not, police say.

A witness called 911 and, upon arrival, police found the man unconscious on the ground. He was transported to hospital. The man isexpected to survive.

Witnesses told police the pedestrian appeared intoxicated before impact.

The driver that hithim was treated at the scene for shock.

A security perimeter was set up at the scene of the collision and the road was partially closed, but was reopened overnight.
