Driver of truck that hit pedestrian in Saint-Lonard located by Montreal police

A 28-year-old woman was takento hospital in critical condition after she was struckby a truck in the Montrealborough of Saint-Lonard at around 6 a.m. Wednesday, Montreal police say.

Police said they feared for her life, but doctors have since told themshe is out of danger.

The truck driver left the scene without stopping, but collision investigators located him shortly after the incident, said police spokesperson Const.Manuel Couture.

They will be questioning him later today.

Police said earlierthat the driver may not have been aware of the collision.

The truck driver had beenheaded north on LangelierBoulevard when heturnedright onto Jean-Talon Street East, hitting the pedestrian who was crossing Langelier at the time.

Collision investigatorscordoned off the area for a few hours, as they tried to better understand the circumstances leading up to the collision.
