Quebec Nov. 9 byelection: St-HenriSte-Anne

Liberal Marguerite Blaisheld this seat from 2007 until her resignation in August 2015.The minister responsible for seniorsin Jean Charest's cabinet from 2007 until 2012, Blaisfailed toget a cabinet post in the Philippe Couillard government. After the death of her husband Jean-Guy Faucher earlier this year, Blais, 64, said she wanted to take time to enjoy her good health.

Blais was re-elected to her seat in 2014with 52.5% of the vote, by a 11,540 majority over the PQ`s Vronique Fournier.

Riding description

The division of Saint-HenriSainte-Anne comprises Montreal's Sud-Ouest borough, as well as part of the borough of Ville-Marie between Saint-Antoine Street West, Square Victoria, McGill Street and de la Commune Street West

It also comprises the part of the Ville de Montral situated in the borough of Ville-Marie and bounded as follows: Saint-Antoine Street West, Square Victoria Street,McGill Street,de la Commune StreetWest and the boundary of the borough of Ville-Marie.

Riding history

The riding has voted Liberal since it was created in 1994 when the Sainte-Anne and Saint-Henri ridings were fused. Since then, the riding has gained part of the Notre-Dame-de-Grce and Westmount-Saint-Louis electoral districts.
