The Quebec government and city mayors across the province will be watching closely today to see what Justin Trudeau's new Liberal government will include in its first budget.

Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre will be in Ottawa to see the budget being tabled at 4 p.m. ET.

"The priority is infrastructure," Coderre said on Monday in Montreal. "Montreal can't do it all. Support from governments is necessary."

Here are 5 projects Montrealand theprovincial governmentsaid they'd like to see included in Tuesday's federal budget:

1. Public transit projects

The Quebec government said it would like to see money set aside for public transit projects, including:

  • a light rail train running across the new Champlain Bridge.
  • an extension of Montreal's Blue Metro line into Montreal's east end neighbourhood of Anjou.
  • Train de l'Ouest (AMT commuter trains for Montreal's West Island).
  • rapid buses in Quebec City.

2. Montreal's 375th birthday

In 2017, Montreal will be celebrating its 375th anniversary. Coderre said he would like to see funds allocated to help pay for construction work needed to revamp ParcJean-Drapeau for the festivities.

The province agrees with him, and would also like to see money transferred for Quebec festivities for Canada's 150th birthday, also in 2017.

3.BombardierCSeries

The province would like to see the feds support the aerospace industry -- namely Bombardier and itsCSeriesaircraft.

Quebec has already chipped in more than $1 billion.

In February, Montreal-based Bombardier said it would cut its workforce by up to 7,000 people even as the company finally signed a deal to sell itsCSeriesjets to Air Canada.

4. CBC tower

Coderre said money from Ottawa would be needed to help revamp the site of the CBC tower, located at the corner of Ren-Levesque Blvd. and Papineau Ave.

5. St-Joseph's Oratory, Museum of Contemporary Art

The province said that the federal government should contribute when it comes to investments for St-Joseph's Oratory, the Montreal Museum of Contemporary Art and the Institut nordique du Qubec, which is an organization that works in the field of Arctic research and tries to foster sustainable development in the North.
