Quebec reaches tentative deal with union representing school support staff

After months of stalled negotiations, Quebec has struck a tentative deal with the FEESP-CSN, a labour federation that represents thousands of public sector employees.

Quebec has struck a tentative deal over working conditionswith a labour federation that represents thousands of public sector employees, after months of stalled negotiations.

The FEESP-CSN represents support staff employees in someschools and CEGEPs across Quebecas well asmunicipal workers.

"We succeeded at loosening staff movement," said union presidentDaneilleBeaulieu.

"We succeeded at making it such that our staff have access more quickly and easily at the best shifts."

The tentative deal, announced Monday, does not include salary negotiations. Itwas reached over the weekend during a negotiation blitzbetween unions and the Quebec government.

The FEESP-CSNincludes30,000 support staff workers in 31 French-language school boards and two English-language school boards.

The details of the possible dealhaven't been announced.Public sector workers have been without a contract since April.

Quebec teachers still haven't reached a deal with the government.
