Hearing for second Uber injunction delayed until Monday

A hearing on a second injunction filed by the taxi industry against the ride-hailing appUberhas been delayed untilMonday.

Citing documents that describeUber as a taxi service without holding the required permits, representatives of the taxi industry asked the Quebec Superior Courtto impose an injunction that wouldsuspend the company's activities in Quebec.

A judge was not available Thursdayto hear arguments from both sides.

Lawyers representing the taxi industryfiled the injunction againstUber after thefirst attempt was rejected on Tuesday.

That first injunction requestwas filed against the provincial government and dealtwith its pilot project withUber.

In that decision,JusticeMichelDzielsaid, given that the Uber deal is not yet in effect, the injunction request was premature.

Uberand the Quebec government reached an agreement in early September thatallows the ride-hailing appto continue operating in the province during a one-year pilot project.

The deal hammered out between the government andUberisslated to take effect Sept. 29.
