Ugo Fredette now in Saint-Jrme detention centre, police say

After spending nearly a week in two Ontario hospitals and a Quebec hospital, Ugo Fredette, who was arrested last week in connection with an Amber Alert case, is now in a detention centre in Saint-Jrme.

Fredette has been charged with second-degree murder

Ugo Fredetteis now in a detention centre inSaint-Jrme after spending nearly a week in two Ontario hospitals and a Quebec hospital, after he wasarrested last weekin connection with an Amber Alert case.

Fredette, 41,is expected to appear at the town's court Monday, according to Quebec's provincial police.

He hadbeen in Ottawa's Civic Hospital sincehe wentintocoma over the weekend after he wasanesthetizedfor medical tests. He was transferred from Ottawa by Quebec ambulance Friday nightto a hospital in Saint-Eustache.

He began to emerge from his comaThursday.

On Monday, Fredette was charged in absentia with second-degree murder in connection with the death ofhis partner,Vronique Barbe, who was found dead in her Saint-Eustachehome on Sept. 14.

Fredettehad suffered self-inflicted head injuries in a suicideattempt while in the custody of Ontario Provincial Police inRenfrew, Ont. last Friday.

Fredettewas arrested earlier that day, putting an end to the Amber Alert that spanned hundreds of kilometres and was launched after 41-year-old Barbewas found slainand a six-year-old boy was missing.

The boy was found safe when Fredettewas arrested and isin the care of provincial youth protection services.
