University of Montreal Carabins take home Dunsmore Cup en route to Vanier Cup

The University of Montreal'sCarabinsfootball team is bringing home the Dunsmore Cup after defeating Laval University's Rouge et Or in an 18-16 victory on Saturday.

The Rouge et Or tied up the game at the start of the fourth quarter, giving the Carabins last year's winners of the Vanier Cup, the highest honour in Canadian university footballa run for their money.

The final two points that put the Carabins over the edge were scored in the last five minutes of the game, making for a heart-stopping finale.

Next Saturday, the Carabins will be up against the University of Guelph'sGryphonsfor the Mitchell Bowl in Canadian Interuniversity Sport's semifinals.

Whoever wins that game will head to the Vanier Cup,Canada's universityfootball championship, to face the winner of the Uteck Bowl.

The Vanier Cup will be decided on Nov. 28 in Quebec City.

The Carabins won the Dunsmore Cup last year as well, putting an end to an 11-year streak by the Rouge et Or in an overtime game in the province's capital.

Quebec City and Montreal mayors Rgis Labeaume and Denis Coderre were at the game on Saturday.

Prior to the game kicking off, a moment of silence was observed to pay tribute to the victims of the Paris attacks.
