BMM Testlabs plans 1,000 jobs in Moncton over 5 years

BMM Testlabs is planning to create 1,000 jobs in the Moncton area over the next five years, the company announced on Thursday.

Martin Storm, the company's president and chief executive officer, made the announcementwith Premier Brian Gallant.

The corporate statement did not release any details about any provincial financial contributions.

However,Opportunities NB estimates the expansion will contribute $75 million annually to New Brunswick's gross domestic product once thepositions are filled.

Storm said at a news conference the jobs will include quality assurance testers, engineers, computer scientists, business development managers and project managers and that the"wider impact of employment is immense."

He expects the company will hire 200 people every year beginning late in 2016.

The company's president alsosaid he hopes to sit down with local mayors to discuss the need for a large building or campus to house the new employees.

BMM is a gaming testing lab that operates in Canada, Spain, Australia, South Africa and in South America.

The Moncton facility is the only operation in Canada.
