Heavy rain washes out roads, bridges in New Brunswick

Heavy rains have caused flooding and infrastructure problems in parts of southern New Brunswick.

Several roads and highways have been impacted by last night's rainfaill

Heavy rains havecaused flooding and infrastructure problems in parts of southern New Brunswick.

Alarge sinkhole swallowed a car on Highway 850 near Springfield but no one was hurt, according to the Emergency Measures Organization.

Bridges are washed out in Belleisle Creek, Nerepis and Kars and many roads remain closed due to flooding.

As of 6 a.m. there was waterreported on Route 177 in Grand Bay-Westfield, deep waterover Highway 7 in a number of placesandRoute 101, near Welsford, waswashed out.

Several areason Route 845 to the Gondola Point Ferry through Kingston are down to one lane because of washouts.

Part of Manawagonish Road is closed due to downed trees.A power line is down along Route 825 highwaybetween the Range Road and the 111 St. Martins Highway.

TheRegional Emergency Operations Centre Activated in Oromocto.

Route 101 is closed there arewashouts and water over roadsin theHoyt area.Route 3 is also closed due to washouts.

In Fredericton Union Street at the Nashwaak River Bridge is closed due to high water.

The following roads have also been impacted by heavy rain:

  • Route 101 in Wirral is washed out near Gillett Road
  • Route 101 at Charters Settlement Road
  • Mataya Drive in Peppercreeksubdivsion
  • Route 3 at York Mill closed by RCMP
  • Water over road on Landing Road, Nevers Road and Route 655.
  • Wiggins Mill Road and Mactaquac Heights Road down to one lane.
  • Ritchie Road - shoulder washout and possible undermining of road.
  • Water over road at civic 1695 on Route 102 in Upper Gagetown, over Route 102 at Elm Hill Road, Route 102 by Upper Hampstead Road and two spots on Upper Hampstead Road
  • Water over road at 400 Deerwood Drive and also on Camber Drive and Mazerolle Settlement Road.
  • Route 102 below the Shell RCMP has road closed.
  • Route 148 closed between Killarney Road and Durham Bridge.
  • Route 705 Wickham, three to fourwashouts
  • Route 710 Washouts at Henderson Settlement Line, Cambridge Narrows.
  • Route 715 Washouts at Lakeview Road, Cherry Hill Rd.
  • Simpson Drive, Glen Road, Retail Drive, Mcallister Drive,Rothesay Avenue,AshburnLake Roads are closed.
