Moncton's Castle Manor condo development plans are on hold

Plans for the old Castle Manor in Moncton to be turned into high-end condos are on hold because the developer is taking issues with a provincial building code.

Jay Tse, the project developer, purchased the historic landmark last yearand was planning to turn it into 14 high-end condos in Moncton.

But he's taking issue with a provincial building code, whichrequires developers to build an accessible unit for buildings with between four and20 units.

Tse says he would build one if it was requested,but he doesn't want it to just sit there.

He says he will make a decision about whether he'll proceed or not by Aug. 1.

Tse bought the building last August and the sale went through in October. At the time,Tse said the units wouldrange in price from $275,000 to about $350,000 and would likelybe ready by October 2015,

Castle Manor has previously served as an orphanage and a seniors' home.
