River Watch 2015 warns of ice jams, flooding

River Watch 2015 is warning about possible flooding or ice movement over the next two days in some areas of New Brunswick.

The province says continuing warm temperatures and rain in the forecast are leading to melting snowpack and the deterioration of river ice in all regions.

Over the next two days, the Department of Public Safety says there is a good chance of ice movement along the St. John River, and other river systems. They also say river levels are expected to increase.

The department also points out there are ice jams on the Tobique River near Gladwyn and on the St. John River near St. Francis, Maine that could lead to flooding.

Also of concern to them are water levels on the Nashwaak that are forecast to reach watch criteria of20 metres on Tuesday.

Water levels at Fredericton and locations down river are expected to rise over the next 48 hours, but are forecast to remain below advisory levels.
