Some of the brains behind CBC Television's This Hour Has 22 Minutes are breaking out of the writers' room to flaunt their comedic chops on a standup comedy tour of Atlantic Canada.

Matt Wright, Heidi Brander, Adam Christie and Bob Kerr kicked off the This Hour Has 22 Minutes Writer's Tour in St. John's Monday night.

The writers told CBC's Krissy Holmes that their sets are comprised of material that didn't make it to air mostly because it's considered too hot for television.

"Our show isn't televised so we can swear a little. But nan can still come, she'll still have a nice time. It's not that hot," St. John's comedian Matt Wright promised.

Kerr estimates that each season, the writers pen roughly 100 sketches each, not counting contributions from mainstay Mark Critch. Needless to say, that's a lot of extra content for the tour.

The tour continues on to Gander, Corner Brook and Grand Falls this month before heading to New Brunswick.
