3 intruders threaten St. John's man with handgun

A handgun was used in a home invasion in St. John's late Monday night, police said.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said three men confronted a man in his own home in the east end of the city at about 11:30 p.m.

Staff Sgt. Gerald Carrigan said one of the three men was carrying a handgun. Carrigan said the three intruders attacked the resident, and then fled the scene on foot.

The resident was treated at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's, although Carrigan said his injuries are not considered serious.

Police are searching for the trio.
