Axetra, axetra! Axe-throwing business gets green light in St. John's

An axe-throwing target club has been approved to open on Water Street in downtown St. John's.

An axe-throwing target clubhas been approved forWater Street in downtown St. John's.

Jack Axes Inc., a new business that bills itselfas fun and safe, is set to open at 152 Water Street, on the east end.

The target club and lounge was approved at council's weekly meeting Monday.

The company's owners originally requested to open on Topsail Road, near the Village Mall, but thatapplication was withdrawn.

While Coun. Bruce Tilleywas against the axe-throwing club in the west end,Coun. Jonathan Galgay spoke in its support when the matter came up for discussion on Monday.

According to notices published in the council agenda, the business will include a lounge and willoperate Sunday-Thursday, 12 - 11 p.m., as well as Friday and Saturday from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m.
