Nothing suspicious or dangerous about 'loud bang' at Come by Chance refinery, RCMP say

Police have left the North Atlantic refinery in Come by Chance after determining a "loud bang" was not suspicious or posed any danger to the staff or the public.

RCMP officers are on the scene at the North Atlantic refinery in Come by Chance, a spokesman has confirmed. (North Atlantic)

Police have left the North Atlantic refinery in Come by Chance after determining a "loud bang"was not suspicious or posed any danger to the staff or the public.

RCMP Cpl. Trevor O'Keefecould not say what caused the noise, but said the situation is being handled internally by North Atlantic Refining.

He also said the sound was not related to refinery operations.

"We're cleared there now," O'Keefesaid.

O'Keefe said there was no explosion orinjuries.
