DNA evidence provides 'breakthrough' in Dale Porter case

The RCMPsay they have made a major development in the Dale Porter homicide investigation related toDNA evidence collected from the scene in Conception Bay Northten months ago.

In a news release Friday, RCMP said recent DNA analysis have put police in "a position to act on these results."

While details on the development are scarce, an RCMP spokesperson told CBC News the DNA results are the breakthrough they've been waiting for.

Porter, 39, was killed on his property in North Riverduring the early morning hours of June 29, 2014.

CBC News learned RCMP believe two men with links to the Vikings Motorcycle Club murdered Porter.

In an October 2014 affidavit,an RCMPconstableidentified Allan Potter and Daniel Leonard as suspects in the North River murder.

The two men have never been charged with Porter's death.
