Gilbert Budgell, previously charged with murder, arrested in drug seizure

The RCMPseized a large amount of cocaine, controlled substances and stolen property from a manwho was charged with second-degree murder earlier this year.

Gilbert Donald Budgell, 54,was arrested after police searched a home in Peterview on Friday.

Budgell was also arrestedearlier this year after being charged with second-degree murderfollowing a home invasion.

The RCMPworked with the Grand Falls-Windsor detachment and a police dog to execute Friday's search warrant.

Budgell will appear in Grand Falls-Windsor Provincial Court on Monday where he will face a number of charges including trafficking ofcontrolled drugs and substances, possession for the purpose of trafficking and breach of recognizance.

Police said the investigation is still ongoing.
