Richard Gillett, Cold Water Cowboy star, sentenced for assault

Cold Water Cowboys star Richard Gillettreceived a conditional discharge and a year ofprobation in court,after previously pleading guilty to an assault charge.

Gillettwas charged with two counts of assault after a confrontationinthe summer of 2015at the marine centre in Durrell,a fishing community that forms part of Twillingateon Newfoundland's northeast coast.

One of the two countswas withdrawn by the Crown. Gillett pleaded guilty to the second.

According to an agreed statement of facts read to the court, Gillette "threw a grinder" at the complainant,Farron Clarke,who was standing aboutabout "60 or 70 feet" from the reality TV star.

A filmcrew for Cold Water Cowboys was present at the time.

Gillett then walked towards the complainant and shoved him four times.

Clarke, who had been friends with Gillett for years, said he was concerned that punches would be thrown, andthat he had never seen this side of Gillett before.

Gillett'ssentence was handed downearlier in September at provincial court in Gander.
