Jason King, theformer St. John's IceCapsright-winger and assistant coach, will remain with the franchise as part of the team's front office staff.

King will replace Brad Andrews as director of hockey operations and will oversee team travel and support for the coaching staff, a news release Monday said.

"Jason is a smart, capable young man with an intimate knowledge of the role from working closely with Brad over the past four years," said Glenn Stanford, IceCapschief operating officer.

King was permanently benched two years ago because of health issues arising from concussions.

The Corner Brook native played with the AHL team for two years before he was hired as assistant coach.

Meanwhile, Andrews will follow the players to Winnipeg where he'll take on a new position with the parentWinnipeg Jets.

In March, IceCaps president Danny Williams announced that the franchise had reached a deal with the Montreal Canadiens that will have the Habs farm team play in St. John's, under the IceCapsname.
