Fatal car crash near Kelligrews leaves 1 dead, 3 injured

Police say one person is dead and three others were injured in a single-vehicle crash on the Conception Bay South bypass road Wednesday night.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary was called to the accident in the eastbound lane of Peacekeepers Way in the Kelligrews area around 10:20 p.m.

According to police, the vehicle left the road and rolled over, coming to a rest on its roof.

One of the passengers, a 17-year-old girl,was killed in the crash.

The driver, also a 17-year-old girl, was taken to hospital with injuries that police describe as critical.

Two passengers in the back seat sustained minor injuries, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary said Thursday afternoon.

Traffic in the area was diverted through the FoxtrapAccess Road and Legion Road for several hours, as crews remained on scene.

Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
