A post-budgetsurvey of Newfoundland and Labrador households shows a sharp decline in support for the governing Liberals.

MQO Research randomly selected 601 eligible voters from across the province and conducted the survey over the phone April15 to21, the week after the Dwight Ball government brought down an austerity budget.

The survey found that decided voter support for the Liberals was37 per cent. That's a steep drop from the 57.2 per cent hold the party had in the November 2015provincial election.

Support for the Progressive Conservatives remainedsteady at 30 per cent, which is unchanged since the election.

The NDP saw a jump in support from 12.1 per cent late last year to 31 per cent in this most recent survey.

The margin of error is plus or minus 4.0 per cent, 19 times out of 20.
