Police in St. John's arrested a man Monday morning following a break-in at a nurses residence that has not been used for years.

A security patrol spotted the man in the residence near the now-demolished Grace General Hospital, off LeMarchant Road, in St. John's.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary used a dog to help find a suspect.

A man, 38, was found hiding in the ceiling on the abandoned residence's seventh floor, Staff-Sgt. Joe Gullage said.

The man, who had no fixed address, was held at the lockup for an appearance at provincial court in St. John's.
