Moose on the loose in St. John's backyard sedated and moved

The backyard of an older home in one of St. John's historic neighbourhoods looked like a wildlife preserve Friday after two young moose wandered onto the property.

The animals were spotted in a fenced yard on King's Bridge Road and provincial conservation officers were on the scene around 8a.m.

The moose, thought to be yearlings, were tranquilizedand hoisted into pickup trucksfor transfer to a less urban environment.

The Department of Fisheries and Land Resources told CBC they were taken to a wooded area outside the city.
