A woman killed in western Newfoundland by her estranged husbandthis week is being fondly rememberedas questions are raised about what might have been done to prevent her death.

Stephanie Chaisson was gunned down on Monday at the medical clinic where she worked in De Grau, on the Port au Port Peninsula. Luke Chaisson then shot and killed himself.

Phyllis Young was a friend of Stephanie Chaisson.

"She was really a darling person," said Young, who lived near Chaisson in Cape St. George. "She was so nice,so loving."

They worked together onmany community projects.

Then, just afternoon on Monday she received word that Stephanie Chaisson was dead.

"By talking to her and knowing what he was saying...something was going to happen but we didn't think this would happen," Young said.

The murder-suicide has left her with questions.

"He was going to the doctorWhy wasn't he getting the help that he needed?Maybe if he had got some help this wouldnt have happened?" she said.

Young's also thinking of the family members who have been affected by shooting the dead couple's two children and the family of Luke Chaisson.
