N.L. man killed in Alberta industrial accident

A man from Gambo is dead following an industrial accident in Alberta.

Dale Dennis Wilkins, 33, was killed Monday night while driving a large dump truck 30 kilometres north of Grande Cache.

"It appears that it was unable to negotiate a corner, hit an embankment and rolled over into a creek bed. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene and our investigation right now is continuing with that," said Grande Cache RCMP Sgt. Brian Bohlken.

The truck dropped 20 metres and landed upside down.

The road conditions were poor at the time because of a recent snowfall.

Wilkins had only been working at the Grande Cache Coal mine for a month.

The mine is closed while the accidentis investigated.
