For their summer holidays, the Moshkovits skip the water parks and roller-coasters and head straight for Parks Canada's list of national and historical sites.

The family, who are from Toronto, have packed up their camper and hit the road to experience nearly 70 sites over the past several seasons.

This summer, they're in Gros Morne National Park on Newfoundland's west coast, where 11-year-old Roee Moshkovits and his 13-year-old sister Ashira hope to add to their collection of collectible dog tags or tokens.

"There are different ones for each park. This one is for Waterton, and this one is for Jasper," said Roee, holding up a large colourful necklace of dog tags.

"You collect them and add them to a chain or whatever you would like."

The Moshkovits hit the road each summer with one goal in mind: hitting as many national parks as they can. So far, theyve visited about 70 across the country. This summer, they reached Gros Morne. The CBCs Colleen Connors met the family who collects dog tags and tokens from each park they visit.

It's part of a Parks Canada program encouraging children to visit certain sites andfill out a booklet or complete a task. They're thenrewarded with a colourful collectible.

For these two children, the necklaces have become prized possessions while they learn about the history and culture of Canada.

Ashira's favourite spot was seeing the Rocky Mountains.

"I kind of liked going up there and looking out from them and the feeling of standing at the top of the mountains. It's just amazing," she said.

"I think our parents are really proud of us for it," added Roee.

Their parents plan on spending some time in Gros Morne National Park before discovering other national sites in the province like L'Anse aux Meadows, Cape Spear and Signal Hill.
